Bobblehead Nation 2019 Update

So it's been a couple of weeks since I posted my annual post letting all NBA fans (OK, so the 20 or so people who read this blog) know where to get the choicest bobbleheads around the NBA. When I published my Bobblehead Nation 2019 post back in October, I had just over half the NBA teams' promotional schedules and I hadn't even started checking out the G League quite yet. Three weeks or so later, I have done that (the G League part). Time for an update.

First of all, let me say that the G League bobblehead schedule this year is pretty amazing. For the past couple of years, we've seen NBA team bobbles be handed out to fans at the minor league levels on a pretty regular basis. Canton and Santa Cruz have been notable in their rigor in treating Charge and Warriors fans to Cavaliers and...well...Warriors big league bobbleheads. This year, there's plenty of that and I've listed everything I could find below. But there are also a number of bobbleheads available which are exclusive to the G League and that's pretty exciting I think. Looks like some road trips are in order for some die-hard bobblehead collectors. Let's get right to the supplemental list, shall we?

Oh..and there have been a few new NBA promo schedules released. Only one of those (Houston) features bobbleheads. For those fans in Dallas, New Orleans, Philadelphia and Utah...better luck next year. Each of those teams have released promotional schedules since my post last month and there ain't no bobbleheads on them, although the Pels' schedule is mysteriously incomplete in its stopping in December. No way are there four promo nights in November and December and nothing the rest of the season. There has to be a Zion bobble, right? RIGHT??

November

9 Sugar Skull (Windy City Bulls)
Last year my bobblehead update was posted in December. Because the Windy City Bulls are handing out a bobblehead on November 9 (or tomorrow), I've been forced to go early this year. The Bulls are handing out a pretty sweet (no pun intended) Sugar Skull bobblehead (shown above) for their season opener this year. This type of bobblehead is typically handed out in late October to coincide with dia de los muertos. Since the G League season doesn't open until November 8, the Bulls are going with better late than never here. I'd show up to the Sears Centre for this one. The Bulls do note the bobble is available while supplies last. Get there early. This is generally true for all G League giveaways.

18 Russell Westbrook (Houston Rockets)
One of the biggest offseason deals (top 3 after Anthony Davis and Kawhi/Paul George to LA?) has to be the Chris Paul and a like a half million draft picks to Oklahoma City for Russell Westbrook. I don't think Russ is winning a title in Houston; I also think the Rockets live to rue the day they made this trade. But if nothing else, Westbrook gets a bobblehead out of the deal.

29 Draymond Green San Francisco Edition (Santa Cruz Warriors)
The Warriors got bested by the Cavs in the bobblehead department at the NBA level this year. But they are still kings of the G League bobbles. Try six bobbleheads. That's more than they are giving out in San Francisco (remember there's no more Oakland...). Five of the six match giveaways scheduled at the brand new Chase Center. The last is a G League exclusive. First up? Draymond Green in the mysterious San Francisco Edition. If you miss this one six days earlier in San Fran, drive down to Santa Cruz.

December

13 Kevon Looney Stormtrooper (Santa Cruz Warriors)
Warriors bobblehead #2 in Santa Cruz, two days after the same giveaway in San Francisco.

14 Austin Carr (Canton Charge)
This is the first of three Cleveland Cavaliers bobbleheads being handed out by the Charge this year. I'm assuming this is a duplicate of the Carr bobblehead given away in Cleveland two nights prior. First 1,500 fans only on this one, folks!

27 DeAndre Jordan Star Wars Night (Long Island Nets)
Brooklyn becomes the third NBA team to have a pile of parent club bobbles at the door of their G League franchise when they open up the arena on December 27. If you missed this one at Barclays on December 21, head out to this game six days later. The Brooklyn club doesn't have an image of this bobble on their website. The Long Island version does (above). First 1,000 fans only.

28 Whammer (Canton Charge)
Bobblehead night #2 in Canton is a repeat of the December 20 giveaway in Cleveland. First 1,500 fans here just like on December 14 in Canton.

January

4 Marvin the Martian and Gus T. Bull (Windy City Bulls)
Are you kidding me? I get that the Brooklyn Nets have co-opted about half the Marvel character list to tie in to their bobblehead promotions this year but Marvin the Martian? In the G League. I'm buying Windy City Bulls season tickets if I'm in the Chicago area. This thing is epic. Photo above. And remember...while supplies last.

6 Raptors Alumni Night (Raptors 905)
No promises here for a bobblehead but the Raptors' minor league franchise is hosting three Alumni Nights (on January 6, February 22 and March 11). All three nights advertise "special appearances, bobblehead giveaways and more." The focus here seems to be on Raptors players who have spent time in the G League. Pascal Siakam, maybe? Fred Van Vleet? Just my own guesses there. I don't see a promo schedule on the Raptors site right now. Could these be exclusive G League collectibles?

11 James Harden Space Bobble (Houston Rockets)
If it seems like every year I write this post, I'm writing about a James Harden bobblehead in Houston, you'd be correct. Seems like they are giving out these things more often than Harden travels in a game (not gets called for traveling, because that wouldn't be very often at all, but actually does travel). In the past five years, there have been four James Harden bobblehead nights in Houston. 2019-20 makes it five out of six. Apparently this one is space themed...cool!

18 Mark Price (Canton Charge)
Bobblehead night #3 in Canton matches the January 4 game in Cleveland. Just like the two prior bobblehead nights for the Charge, there are only 1,500 of these things available.

24 D'Angelo Russell (Santa Cruz Warriors)
Bobblehead night #3 in Santa Cruz is January 24 when the guy traded for Kevin Durant get his own plastic bobble likeness. 10 days earlier, he gets distributed at the Chase Center.

25 Gus T. Bull ASL Bobblehead (Windy City Bulls)
ASL is American Sign Language and this is the third not-available-at-the-parent-club-level bobblehead to be handed out by the Windy City Bulls. This is awesome that a bobblehead is actually addressing a cause of some sort rather than just spitting out an image of a player or mascot for the fans.

February

22 Alumni Night (Raptors 905)
See January 6 above.

28 Klay Thompson Headband Edition (Santa Cruz Warriors)
Well when I speculated about what this bobblehead would look like in my prior post, I was right. It is, in fact, Klay Thompson wearing a headband. And, yes, it's the same color as the one he wore when he dropped 52 on the Bulls.

29 Ben Wallace (Grand Rapids Drive)
No bobbleheads on the schedule for Pistons fans in Detroit but head west to Grand Rapids in late, late February (like, really late) and you can pick up a Ben Wallace bobblehead. Gotta think some Pistons fans are hopping in their cars for this one. I would.

March

11 Alumni Night (Raptors 905)
See January 6 above.

14 Stephen Curry Santa Cruz Warriors (Santa Cruz Warriors)
This is the only one of the six bobbleheads available this year in Santa Cruz that's exclusive to the G League. Surprise, surprise, it's Steph Curry. Presumably wearing a Santa Cruz jersey. If the Capital City Go-Go handed out a John Wall Go-Go jersey bobblehead I'd be there for sure. Of course, it's a bit further from San Francisco to Santa Cruz than it is from D.C. to another part of D.C. I'm seeing some Dubs faithful making this drive.

18 Stephen Curry Popcorn Edition (Santa Cruz Warriors)
The Steph in front of a giant tub of popcorn bobblehead that so befuddled me in my prior post shows up in Santa Cruz in mid-March. Go for it.

27 Dr. J as Black Panther (Long Island Nets)
The second Long Island Nets offering in the bobblehead department is the same as Brooklyn's giveaway three weeks prior. If the image above is true to life, I'm not sure how Dr. J is Black Panther. Maybe the real version is different? Looks like the Nets are making 2,000 of these available for G League fans. Get there early.

That's all I got bobblehead-wise until (a) the Thomas Bryant bobblehead gets released at Capital One Arena or (b) the Wizards by some miracle decide that there's another way Wiz fans get a different bobblehead this year (come on...there's got to be a Rui Hachimura bobblehead ticket package somehow).

I'm still missing some lists from some NBA teams but there have been some bobblehead-less schedules published at the G-League level. Get ready to be disappointed some of you. Hoping for bobbleheads in Aguas Calientes (Clippers), Erie (Bayhawks but the Pelicans G League team), Greensboro (Hornets), Iowa (Wolves, short for Timberwolves), Salt Lake City (Stars which is way better than Utah Jazz) and Stockton (Kings).

Good luck NBA (and G League) bobblehead collectors!!!

Bobblehead Nation 2018

I just got one question to ask NBA fans getting ready for the 2018-2019 season. That question of course is...who's ready for some bobbleheads? I mean the season starts Tuesday. It's about time I got this annual post out of the way.

If you are in Salt Lake City or Houston or Chicago or Oakland or Phoenix or Delaware or Los Angeles or Cleveland or Detroit or Milwaukee or Fort Wayne or Charlotte or Santa Cruz or Brooklyn (maybe) or Atlanta (also maybe), you know you are going to be rewarded for answering that question in the affirmative if you then take the time to show up at your local NBA arena on the right gameday. Heck, if you are a Warriors fan in the Bay Area (or even if you are not a Warriors fan but just happened to go to the right preseason game) it's already well into bobblehead season because the Dubs routinely hand out bobbles to paying customers and die-hard fans before the regular season even tips off. Lucky bastards!

Now, if you are in Memphis or San Antonio...sorry, folks. Promotional schedule is out and there ain't no bobbleheads on it. Although maybe I'm breaking the news too soon. Last year the Milwaukee Bucks released their bobblehead-less giveaway schedule and then added a bunch of bobbles later on as part of their Legends of the Rafters celebration last year. Oh...and the Los Angeles thing is Clippers, not Lakers. Sorry, Lakers fans.

Don't know if your team has or has not released their freebee schedule yet? Check the bottom of this post. There's a list of those teams I haven't found dates for yet. In the meantime, let's get to the list of those who are on board with the cause.

September
29 Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors)
Last year the Golden State Warriors celebrated the preseason by giving away two bobbleheads during their two home games. The two years before that? Three per season. How are the Dubs simultaneously the best team in the NBA on the floor and in the bobblehead giveaway department? I'm jealous as hell here. This year the team starts handing out bobbles in September (yes, most of you already missed this one) with Draymond Green and his three Larry O'Brien trophies.

October
8 Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors)
Every year in Golden State is Steph Curry bobblehead year. I sometimes complain about the repeat player bobbleheads the Wizards hand out because there's only one precious bobblehead per year in most years. I wouldn't complain about having five or six Steph bobbles considering the Dubs hand out six or seven of these things per season. This preseason in Oakland it's throwback Steph. He's got his old school Warriors jersey on (the design that matches the awful old Wizards jerseys so closely that I'm convinced Golden State and Washington got a two-fer here) and his RUN TMC hat celebrating the fast paced Warriors featuring Tim Hardaway (the T), Mitch Richmond (the M) and Chris Mullin (the C) back in the 1990s. This bobble (along the September Dray bobble) look amazing. Is it just the pics or are these things really of superior quality?

12 Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors)
The past few years have seen various Warriors players in San Jose Sharks sweaters for their annual preseason gig in San Jose just down the 101. This year, fans are treated to Kevin Durant in a goalie's uniform while also somehow holding a basketball in his glove. Impossible? Who cares? It's a free preseason bobblehead. I'm still jealous but at least the preseason portion of this post is over. And don't get upset if you are a Warriors fan and want a KD bobble in hoops gear. That will happen soon enough...

17 James Harden MVP (Houston Rockets)
Win an award, get a bobblehead, at least that's what some teams are doing. I guess that's justified. Last year the Rockets gave Eric Gordon his very own bobble for winning the 2016-17 NBA Sixth Man Award. This year, James Harden gets his very own bobble with an MVP trophy in his hands. This thing is seriously impressive; check out the detail on the statue the Beard is holding. But what exactly is Harden wearing? Is that matching pajamas and overcoat? Not sure I'm understanding things right here. Get there early for this one, Rockets fans. They are only handing out 3,000 of these babies. This is, by the way, at least the fourth Harden bobblehead handed out by the Rockets in the last five years.

20 Joel Embiid (Delaware Blue Coats)
OK, so I've never ever featured a G-League team giving away a bobblehead in this post before but this Embiid bobble is so spectacular that I had to break tradition (spoiler alert: he's not the only G-League freebie in this post). Embiid is ultimately going to be one of those opposing players that I love to hate because (a) he's really good and (b) he's got a big mouth. For now, the 76ers haven't been successful enough that it's getting to me. For now. The Delaware Blue Coats used to be the 87ers but they are recently renamed and moved to Wilmington (or will be later this year). November 20 they are playing a game at the Sixers' home Wells Fargo Center. Go there (not Delaware) to pick this one up.

28 Lou Williams Sixth Man of the Year (Los Angeles Clippers)
Last year the Wizards blew an incredible number of games they shouldn't have through lack of effort and sheer stupidity including an early December game in Los Angeles against the Clippers. Down two with 8.0 seconds remaining, the Clips put Lou Williams in the game who proceeded to drain a three with just 1.0 second left and kill the Wizards. It's stuff like this that got Williams the Sixth Man Award last year. He's available for pickup at Staples on October 28 complete with his award.

31 Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors)
Told you there would be a KD bobblehead in hoops gear soon. Can't even get out of the first month of the regular season without another Dubs bobble to go with your three from the preseason. Of course, it's the Warriors so this bobblehead like all the rest comes with a pile of hardware. Jealous. Again.

November
12 Dominque Wilkins (Atlanta Hawks)
Atlanta's back in the bobblehead game after nothing but crickets for years. Makes sense that they would start with the human highlight reel because honestly if you asked most people to name anyone past or present who played for the Hawks, Dominique would be the ONLY person they could name. And yes, there is some disrespect intended to the current roster. A couple of notes about this night and the Hawks' schedule in general. First, this bobblehead is available to the first 300 (that's not a lot) orders of tickets for this night, so by the time you read this, they may all be gone. And second, there's an image of a Harry the Hawk bobblehead on their website alongside their promo calendar link but the Harry bobblehead isn't on the schedule. Mystery!

26 Kevin Love (Cleveland Cavaliers) / Splash Brothers (Golden State Warriors)
No more Kyrie Irving. No more LeBron James. Might as well start cozying up to Kevin Love in the bobblehead department because he's the closest thing to a superstar the Cavs have left now. And with Love signing a contract extension in the offseason after apparently being told Cleveland wasn't tanking, he's either there for the next few years or a good trade chip at the deadline later this season. Either way, odds are pretty good that Love's on the roster when Cavs fans (or the ones that are left anyway) show up at the Q on November 26.

Speaking of teams that made the Finals last year (were we?), it's been about a month since the Warriors have handed out a bobblehead to their fans so it must be about time for one right? Or more accurately, two. This paired bobblehead features both Steph Curry and Klay Thompson for diehard Warriors fans to add their shelf of bobbleheads. Actually, check that. What am I thinking? I meant shelves of bobbleheads. The Dubs aren't the first team to roll out the double bobble (heck, even the Wizards have already done that) but you know I'd be standing in line for this one if I was a Warriors fan (or just a frontrunner I guess).

December
11 Carmelo Anthony (Houston Rockets)
Seriously? Was this in 'Melo's contract when he signed with Houston, do you think? Carmelo is on his third team in three years (assuming you don't count the day he was with the Hawks between the Thunder and Rockets). He's a bench player now and he's apparently OK with it which he wasn't in Oklahoma City. What changed? It had to be the Rockets promising him a bobblehead, right? 'Melo's not really deserving here but when it comes to bobbleheads and basketball players, deserve's got nothing to do with it.

12 DeMarcus Cousins (Golden State Warriors)
When the Warriors signed DeMarcus Cousins this offseason the rest of the NBA shook its collective head at the rich getting richer. The reality is that Boogie may not even play for the Dubs this season and if he does he might not be anything close to the player he was before tearing his achilles tendon last season in New Orleans. There are two things Cousins might get out of this season: (1) a championship ring, even while doing about as much as me to win one and (2) a bobblehead likeness of himself to add to his mantel next to the Kings version of him from three years ago.

14 Muggsy Bogues (Charlotte Hornets)
If there's a team I'd want to be a fan of this year just for their bobbleheads, it's the Charlotte Hornets. They are celebrating the team's 30th anniversary down in Buzz City this year and they are handing out a series of throwback giveaways featuring icons of the team's history, including three in bobblehead form. It all starts on December 14 with Muggsy Bogues who at 5'-3" in height is the shortest player ever to play in the NBA. Bogues was originally drafted in 1987 by the Washington Bullets but in true Bullets/Wizards fashion, left unprotected during the 1988 expansion draft and he was snatched up by the Hornets. He is still the Hornets franchise leader in minutes played, assists and steals.

I can't let the Hornets 30th anniversary celebration go without pointing out some math. This season is 30 years from the team's first season but it's not the 30th season the team (or maybe I should say a team) is playing in the Queen City. It's the 29th season of hoops in Charlotte because there was no basketball team in the city for two seasons in the early aughts between the time they moved to New Orleans (where they ultimately ended up as the Pelicans) and the NBA gave the city the Bobcats (who are now the Hornets again). Still, there are some killer Hornets bobbleheads this year.

28 Steve Martin (Charlotte Hornets)
No, not THAT Steve Martin. This Steve Martin was the Hornets original play by play TV guy who followed the team down to New Orleans when the team moved further down south before returning back to Charlotte when the Bobcats started playing. Martin retired following the end of the 2017-2018 season. Appropriately, Martin's bobblehead is a talking bobblehead. Happy retirement. I'm assuming the team will reserve one of these for Martin.

January
2 Deandre Ayton (Phoenix Suns)
Number one pick overall. Dismal franchise the last few years. You get a bobblehead no questions asked. Your first ever free Deandre Ayton bobblehead in Phoenix is a draft night bobblehead with Ayton showing off the Bahamian, Jamaican and Nigerian flags sewn into the lining of his jacket. The detail on this one will give any other bobblehead being handed out this year a run for the best bobblehead of the year trophy (there is no such trophy to my knowledge but there should be).  The flags? Ayton's from the Bahamas, his mom is of Bahamian and Jamaican descent and his dad is from Nigeria. There you go.

8 Andre Igoudala (Golden State Warriors)
Another month, another Golden State bobblehead. That's eight (counting the double Splash Brothers bobblehead as two) in case you are counting. Even if you are not, it's still eight. Iggy comes with a couple or maybe more championship trophies as most Warriors bobbleheads do. Showing off is not cool, although I guess they earned it.

19 Glen Rice (Charlotte Hornets)
Glen Rice was drafted by the Miami Heat with the fourth overall pick in the 1989 NBA Draft but he made all three of his All-Star Game appearances as a member of the Charlotte Hornets after being traded there in exchange for Alonzo Mourning, who apparently disliked fellow Hornet Larry Johnson so much that he demanded to be traded. In the second of his three All-Star appearances, Rice ended up as the MVP. He's in boxes waiting for Hornets fans on January 19 complete with his All-Star MVP award. No word if Sarah Palin's showing up to get her hands on Glen's trophy.

25 Lauri Markkanen (Chicago Bulls)
How many Finnish NBA players have had a bobblehead night? I'm guessing before January 25, 2019 there are none. Markkanen bucks that trend and will probably be the only dude to do so for a long time. Markkanen made a splash in Chicago last year. This year, he gets one of the highest honors bestowed on an NBA player: his own bobblehead.

29 Colin Sexton (Cleveland Cavaliers)
What's up with the almost total lack of rookies on this year's bobblehead slate? Sure we got Deandre Ayton earlier in January but other than that to this point in the season, that's it! Sexton was taken at the number eight overall spot by the Cavs in this year's draft out of Alabama. I guess the Cavs are a little strapped for choices this year, right? If you are a Wizards fan traveling for a roadie in Cleveland, might want to pick this game if you want to pick up an opponent's bobblehead.

February
4 Josh Jackson (Phoenix Suns)
The Phoenix Suns selected Jackson number four overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, their second consecutive number four overall pick. So far (admittedly after a small sample size of a singe season), he's looking better than the guy they picked up the previous year (Dragan Bender). Jackson made the All-Rookie Second Team last year. Phoenix is going all in on Jackson, Ayton and Devin Booker. I mean what else are they going to do?

6 Shaun Livingston (Golden State Warriors)
By this point in the season, I'm tired of writing about the Golden State Warriors and their trove of bobbleheads. Let's move on shall we? Besides, there are other bobbles by this team to get to that don't have hardware.  Livingston, by the way, is my favorite Warrior. I'd show up for this one over all others. Just don't feel like writing a lot about him right now.

12 Baron Davis (Golden State Warriors)
Before the current team started winning titles, Baron Davis had sort of cemented larger than life status for himself in Warrior-land, leading the Dubs to a first round upset as the eight seed over the number one and defending NBA Champions Dallas Mavericks in 2007. It was the first time an eight seed had upset a one seed in the NBA playoffs in a seven game series. The atmosphere at Oracle was crazy and Baron Davis was the leader of everything that season. It's fitting that he gets a throwback bobblehead. Throwback bobbles can be awesome. This one is.

24 Surfin' Klay Thompson (Santa Cruz Warriors)
I don't know what's up with me and G League bobbleheads this year but here we are again. If you are a SC Warriors fan, I suppose you already know that there are parent team bobbles available for pickup at the G League level. This year, the Dubs are giving away Draymond Green, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and Splash Brothers bobbleheads that are identical to those you can pick up at Oracle Arena at the major league level but this one is unique to a Santa Cruz game, even if the actual game is in Oakland. I love this. It gets team bobblehead collectors to circle a game on the G League calendar. I'd love the Wizards to do this with the Capital City Go-Go but let's face it, no way is that happening.

25 Larry Nance, Jr. (Cleveland Cavaliers) / Jerry West (Los Angeles Clippers)
If you know much about the non-LeBron Cleveland Cavaliers history, you'll know that one of the great teams in Cavs history was the late 1980s to early 1990s team with Brad Dougherty, Larry Nance, John "Hot Rod" Williams and Mark Price. Cavs fans actually thought they had a shot at it all those years while completely ignoring the ascendancy of Michael Jordan. Of course, they were totally wrong. Last year, the Cavs while chasing another title the couldn't and didn't win traded for Larry Nance's kid, Larry, Jr. who was drafted by the Lakers in the 2015 NBA Draft. The Cavs actually un-retired Nance's jersey so his son could wear it which is honestly pretty cool. This year, you can pick up a Larry Nance, Jr. bobblehead wearing a Larry Nance jersey. Although updated to the current awful Cavs jersey.

Speaking of legends in NBA cities, Jerry West is an icon in Los Angeles where he played professionally for 14 years and his likeness in bronze is prominently displayed right outside the front entrance of Staples Center. So it seems only natural that a trip to Staples on February 25 would get you a bobblehead of the logo himself, right? But at a Clippers game? Yep, West is now on the board of the Clips. Seems like this is taking advantage of the situation and/or sticking it to the Lakers.

March
8 Larry Johnson (Charlotte Hornets)
The last Hornets bobblehead of the season is Larry Johnson, complete with gold tooth (that he later ditched in his resurgence as a playoff star with the New York Knicks) and center part. Johnson was one of the first truly national Hornets stars when he made several commercials for Converse under his alter ego grandmama, a superstar dunking...well...grandma. I loved Larry Johnson when I was a Knicks fan before I moved to Washington in 1999. If there's one road team bobble I'd love to have this year, it's this one. Coincidentally, the Hornets are playing the Wizards this night. Unfortunately, I'm out of the country. Otherwise, I'd be mighty tempted to sneak down to Charlotte mid-week and pick this one up.

17 Reggie Jackson (Detroit Pistons)
Stan Van Gundy is gone from Detroit but the Pistons somehow are still all in on Reggie Jackson. Jackson is the first of three Motor City bobbles this year for the revamped (via questionable trade) Pistons. While Detroit clearly has more star power this year, they may not have much more success, even with reigning coach of the year and recently fired from Toronto Dwayne Casey at the helm. Get a new point guard, Detroit. But pick up this bobblehead. A boblehead's a bobblehead.

20 Hall of Fame Benny the Bull (Chicago Bulls)
I have no idea (1) what the heck a Hall of Fame Benny bobblehead looks like and (2) why the Bulls feel like they need to give out Benny the Bull bobbles in two consecutive years (the pic above is last year's not this year's HOF model). I guess this is celebrating Benny's 2017 induction into the Mascot Hall of Fame. The Mascot Hall located in downtown Whiting, Indiana promises it's going to be opening the doors sometime this year; we'll see I guess. For what it's worth, I have Benny ranked as the fourth best mascot in the NBA. Neither Hugo the Hornet, Stuff the Magic Dragon nor our beloved  G Wiz, all of whom I have ranked ahead of Benny, are in, although it's worth noting Stuff was in Benny's voting class but didn't get the votes I guess.

22 Larry Nance, Sr. (Cleveland Cavaliers)
One Larry Nance bobblehead not enough for you this year, Cavs fans? On March 22, you can pick up a Nance Sr. bobblehead to go with your Nance Jr. bobble you picked up about four weeks prior. Please issue this thing without the orange and powder blue unis. If there's any Cavs jersey worse than the current one, it's those things.

23 TBD (Fort Wayne Mad Ants)
Yep, more G League. Other than that, I got nothing else here. I only know that there a to be determined bobblehead on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants schedule. Maybe it's a Pacer; maybe it's not. Only time will tell.

30 Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns)
I should point out here that March 30 is superhero night at Talking Stick Resort Arena so I'm assuming the Booker bobblehead is sporting a cape or an "S" on his chest or a mask or something along with his Suns jersey and shorts. Booker's about as close as the Suns have to a superhero down there right now so I guess he deserves it.

April
7 Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons)
Please please please tell me this is an Andre Drummond shooting free throw bobblehead. I might have to check my schedule for 4/7 just to see if I had plans if the Pistons decided to issue the 'Dre bobble in that variety.

9 Blake Griffin (Detroit Pistons)
Why do people like Blake Griffin so much? He robbed John Wall of Rookie of the Year by being injured during his actual rookie year. He also robbed JaVale McGee of the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest by jumping over a tiny corner of a Kia and making it seem like a big deal. And then there's the whole Kendall Jenner thing with her dumping Blake as soon as he was no longer convenient to Los Angeles after the Clips shipped him to the Pistons. OK, so the last one was a low blow that was completely uncalled for. I'm sticking by the other two.

10 Ralph Lawler (Los Angeles Clippers) / Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks)
If the Clippers giving away a Jerry West bobblehead seems out of place, them handing out one featuring Ralph Lawler does not in any way. Among NBA broadcasters, they don't come much better than Lawler, whose career with the Clips spans 40 years from the time they moved to San Diego from Buffalo in 1978 (they were the Braves in Buffalo and became the Clippers in SD). April 10 is Ralph Lawler's last day broadcasting with the Clippers. Congrats, Ralph. Enjoy retirement.

On the same day the Clips give away Ralph Lawler in every sense of the word, the Bucks hand out their one lonely bobblehead for the season. Surprise! Surprise! It's a Giannis Antetokounmpo bobble. Again. I swear I'm never going to be able to spell Giannis' last name without looking at it written somewhere else. I learned how to spell Oleksiy Pecherov just fine but I can't get this one down quite yet.

Missing from this list? Any bobbles that may be in the works or ready in boxes to be handed out to fans in Boston, Toronto, Philly, New York, Brooklyn (except as noted below), Indianapolis, D.C., Orlando, Miami, Dallas (also with the below exception), OKC, Denver, Portland, Minny, Sacto and New Orleans. They may just have not released their promo schedules yet or some may just be not giving their fans the love they deserve by handing out some free bobbleheads.

Also missing? There are definitely other bobbleheads available this year around the NBA that will require a little more effort or money than just showing up to a single game.

The Brooklyn Nets are selling an 11 games for the price of 10 package in celebration of Jason Kidd's enshrinement into the Naismith Memorial Basketball hall of fame. The package features a HOF Kidd bobble available for pickup starting December 23. Just in time for Christmas, I guess. No word on whether the bobblehead will bail on you when there's a whiff of getting a better offer elsewhere. Want to pick this one up? Try this link.

Out west in Utah, the Jazz have rolled out five (FIVE!!) bobbleheads available to fans for picking up a three pack of tickets. Are you kidding me? Five bobbles for buying tickets to just three games? And these bobbles are no slouches. Rookie of the Year Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Darrell Griffith/Dr. Dunkenstein, Joe Ingles and Jae Crowder. This is five years of Wizards bobbleheads just for showing up for three games. I'm tempted to call up the Jazz and get my three pack just so I can have these bobbles. And, yes, I know Ben Simmons was ROY last year. I'm still bitter about the whole Blake Griffin / John Wall thing so I'm naturally in Mitchell's camp here. Simmons is scary good, though.

Finally, there's Dallas. The Mavs ran a contest online called the Dirk Nowitzki "Golden Dirk" Bobblehunt for fans to be able to win one of ten unique gold colored Nowitzki bobbles, in case the ten (yes, ten) Nowitzki bobbleheads they gave out last year to fans wasn't enough. Want to participate in this contest? Too bad. It's over. Congrats to whoever got these.

If there's any other news posted by end of December-ish, maybe I'll do another post with an update. For now, that's all I got. Happy bobble hunting, NBA fans.

Bobblehead Nation 2017

Hey, NBA fans, are you ready for some bobbleheads? Yeah...me too. One of the most exciting parts for me about a new NBA season is finding out what bobbleheads are available from my local team at the arena. They continue to be THE premiere giveaway at the stadium doors. I'd travel around the country picking each one of these up if (a) I could afford it, (b) it was physically possible to be in two places at one time some nights and (c) I didn't have a job that I kinda need to do everything else I need do in life like attending Wizards games and blogging about bobblehead giveaways.

So here it is folks, my fourth annual summary of all bobbleheads available around the NBA (that I'm aware of) if you just show up at the right time in the right place. And yes, just like the last three years some of these have already passed and there will be some that I've missed. Blame it on your favorite team either not posting their promotional schedules on line or not posting them early enough. There's a full list of teams that are missing schedules at the bottom of this post.

Once again, there's some awfully good stuff out there and there are some teams with multiple bobbles available to their fans. Let's get right to it, starting with the kings of the bobblehead giveaways, the Golden State Warriors.

September
30 Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors)
For the fourth year in a row (and possibly further back than that), the Golden State Warriors are the first team to issue a bobblehead during the NBA season. Check that. For the fourth year in a row the Warriors are the first (and only) team to issue a bobblehead during the NBA PRE-season. This year's haul starts with the Draymond Green Defensive Player of the Year bobblehead in the Dubs' first preseason game. Dray is appropriately sculpted with his mouth wide open but somewhat puzzlingly without the DPOY trophy that this bobblehead is supposed to celebrate (he's got two championship trophies instead).

October
13 Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors)
Know why the Warriors are limiting their bobblehead giveaways to two preseason games? I'm guessing it's because that's all they got this year. Draymond Green in September is followed by Finals MVP Kevin Durant two weeks later. And yes, KD comes with both a championship trophy and the Finals MVP trophy as well as a yeah-I-jumped-ship-to-the-best-team-in-the-NBA-but-got-what-I-wanted-in-the-end cheesy smile on his face. Congrats I guess.

23 Eric Gordon (Houston Rockets)
When  he entered the league after being drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers, Eric Gordon was an untouchable piece in what was planned as a Clippers rise to glory (yes, we are still waiting for that to truly happen). But when Chris Paul became available, the Clips happily shipped Gordon off to the Hornets, who re-signed him after his rookie deal was done. He promptly left down and signed with Houston where he (a) won the Sixth Man of the Year last season and (2) was rewarded with his own bobblehead this year. Oh, he's also playing with Paul this year too. But more on that later.

27 Alvin Attles (Golden State Warriors)
One of the things I love about writing this post every year is researching some of the great players who I'm not that familiar with and extolling their virtues for a paragraph or two. Of course, the NBA teams have to cooperate and hand me a bobblehead of a past legend. The Warriors have done that this year by giving away a bobblehead Al Attles in late October.

Attles spent 23 years with the Warriors organization. He spent 11 seasons as a player with the Philadelphia Warriors and San Francisco Warriors, including the last season and a half as player-coach (back when they did that sort of thing; can you imagine that today??). When he was done playing, he spent an additional 12 seasons as head coach, leading the Warriors to their first NBA Championship in 1975. His number 16 was retired by the Warriors. According to his Wikipedia page, he still attends every Warriors game.

November
10 Connie Hawkins (Phoenix Suns)
The Suns began play in Phoenix in 1968, which means the 2017-2018 NBA season is their 50th in the league. So the Suns are having a party, bobblehead style. They are rolling out five separate bobbleheads throughout the season representing their five decades of existence. Connie Hawkins is first, representing the two sixties seasons and the 1970s. The Hawk had one of the more storied journeys as a player. He was (falsely) implicated in a point shaving scandal when in college at Iowa, after which he was subsequently banned from any further collegiate participation and the NBA followed suit.

From college, he played one year in the American Basketball League (MVP by the way) before spending three years with the Harlem Globetrotters and then landing a gig in the American Basketball Association with the Pittsburgh Pipers, whom he led to the 1968 ABA title (MVP and playoff MVP by the way). He finally got his shot at the NBA in 1969 with the Suns but was way past his prime at that point. Nonetheless, his 42 hangs from the rafters in Phoenix and his name's in the books at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield.

The Suns' choice of bobbleheads for each decade seems to be open to fan vote. I guess Hawkins won the popularity contest the Suns ran this summer for the 1960s and 70s. I'd be way more proud to have his bobblehead on my shelf at home than Jerry Colangelo. Just saying.

It would have been great to have had Connie Hawkins around for this giveaway. Unfortunately, he passed away earlier this month. RIP, Hawk.

13 Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors)
How many freaking Steph Curry bobbleheads do the Dubs think they need to give away? In the prior three years they've given away four (yes, they gave away two in one season). And now they need to give away another one? I guess he is pretty good and if I were a Warriors fan, I wouldn't sneeze at a fifth Curry bobble in four years. Heck, that's more bobbles than the Wizards give away in a four year period for all our players combined!!!

25 Dwight Howard (Charlotte Hornets)
The Hornets are going all in on bobbleheads this year and rolling out four of these things, starting with Dwight Howard (still can't get my head wrapped around Howard in Charlotte) the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The photo of Dwight's head on the Hornets' website has a huge smile on his face. And why not? By the time Thanksgiving has rolled around he probably hasn't had enough time to get into some truly passive aggressive behavior with his teammates by that point.

27 Chris Paul (Houston Rockets) / David West (Golden State Warriors)
Chris Paul didn't want to play in New Orleans anymore so he forced his way to a trade to the Clippers, where he spent six pretty good but ultimately Conference Finals-less years. So now he's forced his way to a trade to the Rockets, where he'll be immortalized in bobblehead form, at least for this year, until he's an unrestricted free agent again. Of course, Paul could ultimately choose to re-sign with Houston since he's obviously ring chasing and the Rockets appear to have about as good a chance as anyone of knocking off the Warriors, which means they really have a pretty slim chance.

Speaking of guys who didn't want to play in New Orleans ring chasing...November 27 is also David West bobblehead day in Oakland. West left the Hornets (now re-named the Pelicans of course) the exact same year that Paul did but as a free agent headed for the Indiana Pacers, where he worked his way to a number one seed with the Pacers before crashing in the playoffs when they ran into the Miami Heat. Convinced it wasn't going to happen in the heartland, West took a huge pay cut to spend a title-less year in San Antonio before landing in Golden State where he finally got a ring. Now he has a bobblehead too. Congrats! I'm sure Chris Paul is jealous.

December
4 Dirk Nowitzki #1 (Dallas Mavericks)
Last year the Dallas Mavericks handed out 12 bobbleheads at the doors of the American Airlines Center. Pretty much if you made the team, you got a bobblehead of yourself. I've never seen such a commitment to a team's fans. Bobblehead-wise, that is. This year, the Mavs are handing out an additional 10!!! And they are all of Dirk Nowitzki. That's right, Dallas hoops fans can pick up 10 different Nowitzki bobbles to celebrate Dirk's 20th season with the team.

I assume five of the bobbles are going to resemble the five in the top banner of this post: MVP Dirk, home whites young Dirk, roadie current Dirk, green alternate jersey Dirk and NBA Champion Dirk. I think it's amazing the Mavs have shown this much commitment to Dirk and vice versa over the years while also acknowledging that the team is likely to go nowhere really until he hangs up his sneakers and moves on, likely with the very same organization. For me personally, I'm just jealous of Mavs fans here. 22 bobbleheads in the last two seasons. That's like 10 or 12 Wizards seasons and that's with the G Wiz Kids Club bobbleheads that we effectively have to pay for.

8 DeMarcus Cousins (New Orleans Pelicans)
Two years ago the Sacramento Kings handed out a DeMarcus Cousins bobblehead, the only then-current player in a six pack of bobbleheads handed out by the team to celebrate the accomplishments of their past heroes and I guess anoint the future. Until last year, when they traded him away to the Pels. Now New Orleans is giving out a DMC bobble. He'll be around in December for sure but we'll see about the end of the year.

9 Tom Chambers (Phoenix Suns) / Frank Kaminsky (Charlotte Hornets)
Quick: name the player with the highest point total who will likely never be in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. If you said Tom Chambers, you'd be correct. Chambers ranks 40th all time on the NBA's all time scoring list. Of the 39 ahead of him, 29 are in the Hall already. The other 10? Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki, LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Ray Allen, Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade.

Chambers played just five of his 16 NBA seasons in Phoenix but three of his four All-Star appearances and both of his All-NBA team nods were made wearing a Suns jersey. Chambers' number 24 was also retired by the Suns. Now he gets a bobblehead, winning the fan vote for the 1980s.

And then there's Charlotte's Frank Kaminsky, apparently dressed in a Star Wars stormtrooper costume. All I have to say here is:

Princess Leia: "Aren't you a little TALL for a stormtrooper?"
Kaminsky: "Huh? Oh the uniform. I'm Frank Kaminsky. I'm here to rescue you."
Princess Leia: "You're who? Frank Kaminsky? Nobody named Frank Kaminsky is rescuing me!"

Sorry, Frank.

11 James Harden Jedi (Houston Rockets) / Milos Teosodic  Jedi Knight (Los Angeles Clippers)
So take a wild guess when the next Star Wars movie is being released? If you guessed December 11 you'd be almost right. It's December 17. I guess that's why bobblehead Frank Kaminsky is being dressed up a bit early as a stormtrooper this month and James Harden and Milos Teosodic (yes, I know he's a rookie but he appears to be the guy the Clips are pinning their post-Chris Paul era on at point guard) are dressed up as jedi for their December 11 bobblehead giveaways. If you can manage to be in Charlotte on December 9 and then Houston and L.A. two days later, you can add these three bobbles to your Brook Lopez Nets jedi and Chewbacca giveaways from the previous two years. Can't make it to all three spots plus Brooklyn the last two years? Well, there's always eBay. Or a time machine.

20 Dirk Nowitzki #2 (Dallas Mavericks) / Zaza Pachulia (Golden State Warriors)
The second of ten. Which Dirk Nowitzki bobblehead is this? No idea and hey, who cares? It's a bobblehead and it's free!!

Yes, there's also a Zaza Pachulia bobblehead this year. This is freaking awesome. I'd love it if I were a Warriors fan. I just don't have a whole lot more to say on this one. Lock in, Dub Nation!

27 Kemba Walker (Charlotte Hornets)
Can you believe Kemba Walker made it to the All-Star Game last year? Me either, despite the good year. I think the coaches were swayed by the unexpectedly strong start for the Hornets. I guess Kemba's hard work and performance paid off. This season he becomes the third Charlotte Hornet to be honored in bobblehead form.

January
5 Dirk Nowitzki #3 (Dallas Mavericks)
First bobblehead of the new year is...Dirk Nowitzki. And why not, I mean he has the best odds of anyone this year, right?

8 DeAndre Jordan (Los Angeles Clippers) / Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors)
The Clippers this year are handing out four bobbleheads. Apparently three of the four are pretty standard bobbleheads as evidenced by the silhouettes above, although I find that difficult to believe unless Milos Teosodic's jedi knight bobblehead comes sans light saber (seems unlikely). The one with a different silhouette? DeAndre Jordan's. Apparently he's posterizing some opponent. I'm hoping they don't make the opponent an actual player and if they do, I hope it's not a Wizard.

The same day DJ gets a bobble for the second straight year in L.A., the Warriors hand out bobblehead number six on the year with a miniature version of Klay Thompson, presumably with a couple of Larry O'Brien trophies at his feet like Draymond Green has. Warriors fans can place this bobblehead proudly next to their 2016 and 2015 Klay bobbles.

12 TBD (Phoenix Suns)
January 12 in Phoenix is a celebration of the 1990s and once again, the choice of bobblehead this night was determined by fan vote. I'm thinking it's got to be Charles Barkley here, right? I know, Cedric Ceballos would be an awesome choice but it's gotta be Chuck I'm thinking. Suns fans will find out soon I hope.

13 Dwyane Wade Zach LaVine (Chicago Bulls)
When the Bulls first released their promotional schedule in September, it featured two bobbleheads: Benny the Bull (I'd be soooo looking forward to that one if I were a Bulls fan) and Dwyane Wade. By the end of September, Wade was gone, agreeing to part with a reported $8 million of his guaranteed money so he wouldn't have to play for the totally-deconstructed-no-chance-at-winning-much-at-all Bulls. So much for that giveaway.

In Wade's place...Zach LaVine, the Youtube sensation and 2015 Slam Dunk Contest winner who the Bulls got in return (plus others) for Jimmy Butler this past summer. Two years ago, Zach's fans got a LaVine bobblehead in Minnesota. Now they got one in Chicago. Thank Dwyane Wade for that one, folks.

22 Clint Capela (Houston Rockets) / Danilo Gallinari (Los Angeles Clippers) / Dirk Nowitzki #4 (Dallas Mavericks)
Clint Capela is likely the guy who convinced the Rockets with his play that the team would be OK passing on any further involvement with Dwight Howard and just stick with the then second year player as their big man in the middle. Other players on the Rockets like James Harden likely helped the club with some advice here. Houston fans get a fan favorite here on January 22.

Over in Los Angeles, the Clippers are handing out bobblehead #4 on the year. It's been a bit rough for this team this offseason. They saw Paul Pierce retire, removed Doc Rivers from the General Manager position, let J.J. Redick and Jamal Crawford sign with other teams and then had Chris Paul engineer his own trade out of town. So to make up for all that, they went out and got Denver's Danilo Gallinari. Yeah. So of course they had to make a bobblehead for him, right? Makes sense to me.

Yes, it's another Dirk Nowitzki bobblehead, rounding out the busiest bobble day in the NBA this year.

29 Dirk Nowitzki #5 (Dallas Mavericks)
Well, it's been a week since the Mavs have handed out a Dirk Nowitzki bobblehead so why not. Five down, five to go.

February
25 Bango (Milwaukee Bucks)
I know the February 25 giveaway in Milwaukee is a toothbrush holder but I also believe this is a bobblehead. While it doesn't exactly say that on the Bucks' website (the bobblehead part; they clearly say toothbrush holder), the cartoonish picture of the giveaway looks on their promo schedule an awful lot like a bobblehead (see above). The Bucks also had a Miles Plumlee toothbrush holder/bobblehead handout on their slate last year which they had to abort when they traded Plumlee away. If you are a collector of mascot bobbleheads (there has to be someone who is) you have to be pumped about the variety this year (see March below). The only downside with this one is you have to be a kid 14 and under to get one of these beauties. If you are traveling to the game, make sure you bring a kid then wrestle this one from their weak hands. Kidding. Don't do that. Please.

26 Dirk Nowitzki #6 (Dallas Mavericks)
February is not only the shortest month of the year, it's also the month with the All-Star break so there's really only like three weeks of hoops in the month. This year, of course, there's time for another Dirk Nowitzki bobblehead though. Not sure why the Mavs skipped October and November but I'm sure Mavs fans are glad to have this one in February.

March
1 TBD (Cleveland Cavaliers)
One man's trash is another man's treasure?

When I first saw the Cavaliers' promotional schedule released and saw two bobbleheads and both were TBDs I thought you gotta be kidding me. I mean these two have to be offseason acquisitions Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder, right? Why bother even dragging it out or casting uncertainty on what has to be a certain thing.

And then Dwyane Wade got bought out by Chicago and joined the Cavs. So now it has to be Wade and Thomas in these two spots, right? Right? Maybe?

2 TBD (Phoenix Suns)
The celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Phoenix Suns continues on March 2 with a bobblehead celebrating the aughts. Just like I did above I'm going to have to guess here because the Suns haven't announced the winner of the fan vote on this one. I'm spitballing here but I'm thinking Steve Nash. He did, after all, win two MVP trophies in his time in Phoenix. Not that I'm a great predictor of elections but I'm all in on Nash here.

4 Dirk Nowitzki #7 (Dallas Mavericks)
Getting the Dirk bobblehead withdrawal shakes, Mavericks fans? Don't worry, here's number seven. At this point, I'm thinking folks in Dallas are losing interest as the team falls behind the pack. The good news? Three more Nowitzki bobbleheads after this one.

6 Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers)
The Clippers wrap up their four pack of bobbleheads with (almost) last man standing Blake Griffin. I'm still waiting for someone to make a Blake Griffin bobblehead with built in flopping feature, although I'm guessing that won't be the Clippers this year. Enjoy, Clips fans. You get three more bobbles than I do as a Wizards fan this year.

10 Dirk Nowitzki #8 (Dallas Mavericks)
Two Dirk Nowizki bobbleheads in a single week? Hey it was bound to happen sometime. I mean there are only 41 home games, after all.

19 TBD (Cleveland Cavaliers)
When I first saw the Cavaliers' promotional schedule released and saw two bobbleheads and both were TBDs I thought you gotta be kidding me. Oh wait...I already wrote this one. See March 1.

21 Benny the Bull (Chicago Bulls)
If December is Stars Wars bobblehead month in the NBA, March is mascot bobblehead month. And the two that are being given away this month are good ones. Benny placed fourth in my most recent mascot rank post. I'd be super psyched if I were a Bulls fan on March 21, so much so that I'd be able to look over the fact that one of the only reasons there's even a Benny bobble is that nobody on the team is good enough to get one. This night should provide a boost for beleaguered Bulls fans. By this point in the season, they'll likely need some encouragement and/or a reason to show up to a home game.

22 Dirk Nowitzki #9 (Dallas Mavericks)
The Mavs should have an over/under bet of how many fans have all nine Dirk Nowitzki bobbleheads by this point in the year. Not sure how they'd quite measure that. You can bet I'd be on the list if I was a Mavs fan. Forgot to mention this earlier but there are only 5,000 per game. Get there early. 10 times.

26 Hugo the Hornet (Charlotte Hornets)
If Bulls fans should be excited about seeing Benny the Bull for free at the doors of United Center, Hornets fans should be equally excited, if not more so, to see a smiling Hornets staffer handing them a Hugo bobblehead five days after Benny gets handed out in Chicago. The only downside here for Charlotte fans (if you really say any day when you get a free bobblehead has downside) is that there was a Hugo bobble handed out just three seasons ago. Is Charlotte really that lacking in players who get bobbleheads? Don't think too hard on that one.

30 Dirk Nowitzki #10 (Dallas Mavericks)
Finally, I can stop writing about Dirk Nowitzki bobbleheads. Congratulations to whomever has all 10. I'm totally jealous. To this point in the season, by the way, the Wizards have handed out zero bobbleheads. It's appropriate then that...

31 Otto Porter (Washington Wizards)
Hey! It's a Wizards bobblehead. Finally!!!

Not wholly surprised by this one (since Otto signed his max deal this past summer). After all the Wizards have never given away (important words there) a bobblehead of the third max deal player on the current roster (joining John Wall and Bradley Beal). As a Wizards fan who already owns an Otto Porter bobblehead (obtained through the G Wiz Kids Club two seasons ago), I was just hoping for someone different. I'll take it and like it for sure. There's only one a year at most in D.C. No complaining any more for this post here.

April
6 TBD (Phoenix Suns)
The Suns wrap up their bobblehead-fest on April 6 with a player from the current team. I don't believe the voting for this one has even started but I can't imagine it's anyone other than Devin Booker. I'd vote for Brandon Knight if I were a Suns fan. Heck, I might even vote for him even though I'm not a Suns fan. By this time in the season, a plastic likeness of Booker with a massive head is likely the only thing Suns fans will have to look forward to.

11 Rajon Rondo (New Orleans Pelicans)
Six or seven years ago, Rondo looked like a future hall of famer. NBA Champion, four-time All-Star, an All-NBA Third Team nod. The last three years? Traded by the Celtics to the Mavericks. Signed by Sacramento. Signed by Chicago. Now he's in New Orleans. But he's good enough to get a bobblehead, something he probably never got in Boston. Rondo's middle name is Pierre by the way. Coincidence? Fate?

So that's it for now. 16 of the 30 NBA teams have released their promotional schedules to this point. I realize that's only just a bit more than half but I wanted to get this out before any regular season bobbleheads are given away. Made it by 3 days! Who knows, maybe there's room for an update later on this year. If nothing else, there are four TBDs in this post in Cleveland and Phoenix and the Rockets promotional schedule either is only released through January or they are giving no loot away after that point.

For the rest of the teams not represented above, no bobbleheads this year in Philadelphia, Memphis, Portland or Los Angeles. Well, the Lakers portion of Los Angeles anyway. The Grizzlies do have a Marc Gasol Billion Dollar Strut Figure they'll be handing out on January 26. Not sure what that is but if I was a Grizz fan I'd make sure I was one of the first 5,000 in the door that night.

The 14 teams missing so far? Boston, Brooklyn New York, Toronto, Detroit, Indiana, Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, San Antonio, Denver, Minnesota, Oklahoma City and Sacramento. If any of those clubs have promotional schedules to release this year, I'll have to pick it up in an update. In the meantime, bobblehead collectors, go forth and collect. I'll get mine on March 31.
